Fabriek: Cor Unum
Cor Unum Ceramics, located in Orthen near Den Bosch, was founded in 1953 with government financial support as a social initiative for the unemployed and people with disabilities. Initially housed in a former boys' school at Ketsheuvel, it was led by Herman Rademaker, educated at the Institute of Applied Arts in Amsterdam.
In the 1970s, Zweitse Landsheer (1928-2010) took over as the designer, a role he held for nearly three decades, known for his minimalist geometric vases and pots for floral arrangements. Notable designers like Ettore Sottsass, Marc Newson, Marcel Wanders, and Geert Lap have also collaborated with Cor Unum. After a bankruptcy in 2009, the company made a comeback.
Cor Unum is recognized as a Dutch ceramic producer that collaborates with contemporary designers to develop new ceramic designs. The company aims to push the boundaries of ceramic craftsmanship through innovation and collaboration with designers.
Its products are produced in limited editions and sold worldwide, with clients including the Museum of Modern Art in New York and Frozen Fountain in Amsterdam. Cor Unum embodies a common ideal: everyone deserves a place, everyone has a talent, and can contribute to a more beautiful world.
